Vinted Users Share Frustration Regarding Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
