19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former number one, has endured a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time coach his previous coach.
Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This marks the player's initial title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.
The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.
However the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to create a final set.
Moutet saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, he earned the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
